Rare George Tiemann civil war/post civil war amputation set.
Made in the earlier part of 1864-1886 according to the address label in the box. Missing a couple tools and Has a couple mismatched items but they are all from the same time period. Long surgical blade is made by Hernstein and son, Hey’s saw is unmarked but matches the other Tiemann tools, trepanning saw’s handle is marked Weiss (London) and the tenaculum is marked stevens and son (London). Small brush is unmarked. Everything else is marked Tiemann. Has damage to the lock and latch area, looks like it was locked and some moron pried it open. Does not have a key. Inscription on plate is “N.D. Ferguson 8th Regt”, the only thing I could find on him is that he was with the 8th New York calvary and he was a surgeon during the Civil War.
