Civil War Obstetrics OB/GYN tool kit belonged to Civil War Surgeon Tiemann..
This OBGYN surgical kit belonged to Civil War Surgeon Dr Robert Wilson Thrift.
Dr Thrift was a doctor before, during and after the Civil War. I can’t be sure if these belonged to him before the war and he took them into service with him to supplement government issued tools, or if he acquired them shortly after the war when he went back into private practice in Ohio.
He practiced in the War in Herrodsburg KY and I also have his hand written patient ledger of both Confederate prisoner patients and Union patients dated Oct/November 1862. The ledger is not included in the sale and will be listed separately at a later date.
Ebony handled forceps, skull perforator and other instruments made by Tiemann.
The Tiemann leather case is in poor condition, the instruments in very good condition.
